The BLAST initiative is part of Creative Youth 2023-2027 and is supported by the Education Support Centre Network of Ireland (ESCI). BLAST is a Department of Education led programme and is supported by Teacher Artist Partnership+ CPD programme through which artists and creative practitioners delivering BLAST have trained.

The closing date for applications is Friday 10th May 2024

Submissions will be assessed and scored by local Education Support Centres using the BLAST Residency Criteria and Scoring. It is important to note that due to high demand for the BLAST initiative, some applications may be unsuccessfulProjects approved for BLAST 2024/25 may commence September 2024 and must be completed by mid May 2025.

Fee Paying Schools are not eligible to apply for BLAST Residencies. Schools that are not in the free-education scheme cannot apply for BLAST. 

Schools in receipt of capitation grants from the Department of Education or Education and Training Boards scheme can apply for BLAST.
