Please take note of the following conditions of music tuition at WBJS
1. Your son’s acceptance for music lessons depends on availability of spaces, teachers, instruments for hire and his academic status.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ORDER TO BE ACCEPTED FOR MUSIC LESSONS, PARENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE UP TO DATE WITH GENERAL SCHOOL FEE PAYMENT SCHEDULES.
2. All fees are billed over four terms and are payable in the first week of each term except for the first term which will need to be paid on receipt of the first invoice. Unfortunately lessons will be terminated if payment is outstanding at the end of the second week of the relevant term.
3. A full terms notice is required, in writing, if parents want to terminate lessons. Failure to do so will result in you being liable for the next full term's tuition.
4. Music tuition is awarded to only those students who are academically competent as lessons happen during class time and can only be managed by students that are already academically stable.
A. Music Lessons
Lessons begin in the first week of term except in the first term as timetables, pupil lists and payments need to be confirmed. Lessons end in the last week of term, unless examinations are being written resulting in an earlier conclusion of lessons. We guarantee 32 lessons across the four terms (an average of 8 per term).
B. Musical Instruments
Instruments can be hired out to boys on an annual basis, billed over four terms. It is the parents’ responsibility to either insure or bear financial responsibility for theft or damage to school instruments they have hired. Normal wear and tear is the responsibility of the Music department. A Memorandum of Agreement will need to be signed before the instrument is allocated and released.
Instruments are to be safely stored when at school in the designated instrument lock up rooms.
Certain instruments, like guitars and violins, will be available to parents and students in a "rent to buy" system that will ultimately be more cost effective.

C. Fees
Music Tuition Fees:
INDIVIDUAL
R1250 per TERM for 8 x 30 minutes lessons per term
GROUP
R850 per TERM for 8 x 30 minutes lessons per term

Instrument Hire Fee = R350 per TERM

1 • Instrument Hiring fees DO NOT form part of the monthly debit order system. They will be billed and paid for separately.
2 • Tuition fees (excluding Instrument Hire) for part time teachers are to be paid to them directly and NOT to the school.
3 • Tuition fees for students of the permanent music staff (Mr. Kierman, Mrs Scheepers and Ms van der Merwe) will be added to the fees paid to the school.
4 • We keep a register of attendance for all lessons
5 • Make up lessons : PLEASE NOTE : Part time teachers are only obligated to make up lessons they are responsible for missing.
Meaning if a teacher calls in sick for the day then he/she will need to find a time to catch up those lessons unless there are more than enough weeks left in the term to complete all 8 lessons. Most terms are between 9 and 11 weeks long.
If your child is absent because of illness, a sporting event, a camp or an outing, our teachers are not obligated to make up those lessons. Please understand, our teachers' schedules are generally full so they are very busy. Please do not expect them to find make up times for missed lessons that are for reasons beyond their control.

I have read and accepted to the terms and conditions as stipulated above. *
