Glohea at Johns Hopkins University is an academic student organization within the Undergraduate Program in Public Health Studies. Our organization’s mission is to develop the next generation of leaders in public health and medicine.
We hold an annual conference, The Global Health Leaders Conference at JHU, that features world leaders in global health, public health, and medicine, brings together exceptional students in grades 9-12 from around the world, and creates a platform for both students and global health leaders to share their work and ideas. The GHLC at JHU has been held virtually since 2020, and it is likely the 2022 conference will be held virtually as well.
Additionally, we manage The Pre-Collegiate Global Health Review (PGHR). PGHR is the first international peer-reviewed publication that features articles on global health topics by students in grades 9-12. PGHR accepts submissions from secondary students around the world and has no article submission or publication fees. The mission of PGHR is to increase youth involvement in global health by providing a platform for students to share ideas and research on critical global health issues. PGHR also exposes students to a peer-review publication process, educating them about effective communication of ideas and research.
