Our dear friend and supporter Cheryl Cannon passed away in November of 2020. In her honor, the Mid-Atlantic Leonberger Club would like to recognize a member of our dog community that exemplifies Cheryl's compassion, humility, kindness, leadership and continued encouragement of others in the sport of dogs.

The Leonberger breed had a special place in Cheryl's heart.  Cheryl was an accomplished handler and advocate for all dogs.  It was a true pleasure to watch her develop special relationships with each dog that worked with.

The Cheryl Cannon Memorial Award will be presented yearly at the fall MALC event. Nominations for this award will be taken from May 1st through July 1st.  The award committee will make a selection from the nominations submitted during their meeting at the end of July.

Nomination Requirements-
1. The nominee must have a love for the sport of dogs and especially Leonbergers
2. The nominee should exemplify the ideals that Cheryl shared with us. Compassion, Humility, Kindness, Leadership and encouragement of others.
3. Nominees do not have to a member of the MALC
