Senior School                                      Advanced 2 Courses                                  2022-2023
At JCDC we believe in giving equal opportunity to our students and to help them discover and develop their talent to its maximum potential. Students benefit from being exposed to a variety of different dance genres being offered which vary from Ballet to Jazz, Tap, Spanish and Contemporary. This enables students to become more versatile dancers and it allows them to find the genre that best suits their potential, preferences and individual personality.

At this level of training our students would have already been exposed to a variety of disciplines and they know what genre suits them best. Those who may not have the potential to become classical ballet dancers could excel in other genres and they may wish to progress to a professional career or a teaching career in this particular genre. Whilst classical ballet training remains essential towards their proper formation students become more aware of the need to train more in the other areas they wish to specialize in. It is also at this level that they would have the last opportunity to start training in genres they would have never studied before.  The school has been established for the last 28 years and we can pride ourselves of many successful students who after training with us have succeeded in making a career out of their dancing.

Whilst understanding that students have to cope with more academic demands, those who continue with their dance training are those who are most committed and dedicated to it. For many years we have had students who continued their dance training alongside their 'O' and 'A' Levels as well as University courses. Students at this level are disciplined enough to cope with these demands and we have had many students achieving excellent examination results in their  'O' and 'A' Levels whilst training for 12 hours a week and others succeeding to graduate from University whilst training for 16 hours a week. We can pride ourselves on the success of students who obtain their Advanced dance certificates at this point of their academic education.

For this reason, we have invested a lot of time and effort to design our calendar and come up with attractive timings and packages that will help students choose more than one genre and achieve the best training possible. Classes have been allocated on the same day when possible so that students will be able to attend lessons back to back between two to four days a week (depending on the level). Packages being offered will vary from 6 to 16 hours of training on a weekly basis.

The programmes available from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2 will include all the dance genres taught at JCDC so as to enable the students to  achieve a high level of understanding of all these disciplines whilst also being given the opportunity to take annually accredited examinations at Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 of the MQF/EQF. It is at this level that they obtain the necessary qualifications that may lead to a professional career if they so wish.

Classical ballet training is an essential base to all dance pedagogy and the JCDC applies the same principles of other training institutions at this level where ballet classes are mandatory even if classical ballet is not the main area of specialization the student may wish to pursue.

Due to the fact that the numbers of students in class at these level get smaller and the level of training is extremely specialized there are different hourly rates available for each of the dance disciplines available. Students wishing to continue with their examinations must attend all the lessons available in each of the dance genres and will not be allowed to enter the relevant examinations if they attend only part of the lessons available. This level of examinations require not only the knowledge of the syllabus content but also the physical strength, endurance, stamina and artistic maturity in it's performance and execution which can only be reached with the adequate amount of training it requires.

Courses are available as follows:

Advanced 2:

Advanced 2 Ballet + Pointe Work + Repertoire
Advanced 1 Modern Theatre
Advanced Contemporary
Avvanzado Spanish
Intermediate Tap

As teachers we strive to improve the level of education we provide students with and we feel it is essential for all students to do the proper and correct amount of training they need throughout the years of their development in order to maximize their potential. We have structured schedules in line with the concept of the conservatoire the school follows and as the principal of a Dance Conservatoire I would like to encourage parents to consider the programmes we are proposing. We understand that not everyone can afford an increase in fees due to the additional hours of training and the school cannot sustain the costs of running classes if they are inadequately attended either. We would like to give equal opportunity to all our students as well as see them all progress together and with good participation in programmes the school will be able to keep fees as low as possible.

Students are able to sit for examinations which are accredited internationally by the MFHEA and fall under the European Qualifications Framework (EQF/MQF). As already mentioned students aiming to sit for exams must be attending all the hours of training available for that discipline recommended by the school. Students who do not attend all classes for each of the disciplines being offered within the programmes will not achieve the required level to sit for an examination, so they will not be in position to enter the examination at that specific level in that genre. However students are allowed to participate in classes without taking on their examinations should circumstances not enable them to attend all classes or should they not wish to enter further examinations and keep up their dancing.

Details about the 2022 / 2023 class schedule and relevant price list, are available below. You will also find the JCDC Rules & Regulations & the JCDC Uniform.

We would like to invite you to secure a place for the upcoming scholastic year by submitting the course registration form and sending your deposit. The student's place in the class will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment and you will receive a confirmation from our end via email.

Full confirmation of a student's place in the class will be made once the full term fee is paid. The school reserves the right to cancel the place of a student if fees remain unpaid after at least one reminder. Once a student is registered, fees will be due for the entire term even if the student fails to attend the class he/she are registered for. Parents/Guardians are to inform the school in writing about the intention to terminate classes at least a month prior to the start of term. Failure to do so does not remove the obligation to pay fees. Students under the age of 18 need to be registered by a parent or legal guardian who will be responsible for the payment of any fees relevant or related to the student's dance education. Students over the age of 18 are able to register themselves and also be held responsible for their fees.
