One of the young leaders of Messy Church, who, with his parents, is well known to BRF, has asked if we can facilitate a meeting place online for young leaders of Messy Churches. The aim is to be an online ‘youth club’ for people aged 10-17 who help at their local Messy Church and who would like to be in touch with other young people in similar Messy Church roles anywhere in the world. The group will decide for themselves how they want to go forward (frequency, content and timing of meetings, themes to discuss, input from BRF and so on.)
While this permission form is necessarily formal, it is hoped that the group itself will be a relaxed, safe, prayerful, friendly and purposeful space in which to make new friends and support each other in the important roles its members have in their local Messy Church.

To ensure that everyone is kept safe we ask that you and your child(ren) follow these guidelines:

Access to the meeting must be through an adult’s Zoom account (unless the young person meets the age restrictions on the platform).
•
If possible make sure the Zoom account name that will appear in the waiting room is recognisable as your family.
•
Do not share the link to the meeting or the password with any other household. If others would like to join please send them a link to this form.
•
Make sure an appropriate adult is close by in case help is needed - they will need to let the host know at the start of the meeting that they are present.
•
Check backgrounds. Remove any personal details which can be seen.
•
Inform other people in your household that a virtual meeting will be taking place.
•
Do not allow screen sharing.
•
In general, adults who are present should remain silent unless requested by the young leaders to participate verbally.
•
Use appropriate language.
•
Dress appropriately (for example daywear, not nightwear).
•

•
We will be using the most up to date version of Zoom
•
We will only include those for whom we have parental permission.
•
Apart from the BRF Messy Church team members, no adult will be admitted without a child.
•
We will ensure that the meeting settings allow only signed-in users to join.
•
We will use a different secure password for each meeting.
•
Two adults will be present before opening the waiting room.
•
An adult host will operate the waiting room and will only admit those recognised.
•
A minimum of two adults will be present at all times until all young people have left the meeting.
•
No adult will be 1-1 with a child at any time.
•
We will not allow screen sharing except from the host’s screen (for whiteboard or similar)
•
We will not allow any recording to take place.
• The Chat function will be set to 'Host only'.
•
We will report any inappropriate behaviour to the parent/carer of the child concerned.
