Cat Adoption Application Form -
wetnosesanimalrescue@gmail.com - 0401501307
Questions asked are to gain an understanding of your household, and whether the pet you are applying for is a good fit for your household, including other pets in your home. Some animals do not get along with children, males, females, other cats or dogs etc. We hope you understand that we would like our animals to be adopted into the very best of homes, both for them and for you and your family.
This details our adoption process for you so that you are aware of what we are doing and why.
We seek to minimise changes of home by making sure you have considered adding the pet to your home carefully, and that your home is a good fit for the pet and vice versa.
1)
You have enquired about a cat or kitten. This is our process and application form
2)
You fill your application out and return to by selecting 'submit'
3)
Your application is reviewed where we check your information.
4)
If suitable we may check your yard/home to ensure our pets will be safe/secure with you, and ensure a good fit with all household members (including other animals). For dogs, we will particularly be interested in your fencing.
5)
We arrange for you to meet the pet. If you have applied for a dog, and already have a dog/s, we arrange for the dogs to meet also.
If all is well with the meetings and home/yard check you deposit the adoption fee into our bank account and then the pet can come for a two week trial to see if he or she is suited to your home and family.
We ask that you notify us as soon as possible if you notice any health issues during the trial period. Sometimes issues are not apparent before leaving their foster home, so please phone or message us if you have any concerns (or any questions)
If the trial does not go well and the pet is returned, your adoption fee is refunded, less a $25 administration fee.
DESEXING:
If you are adopting a kitten or puppy too young to be desexed, this will be done when the animal is old enough. This may not be at your regular vet clinic, although there is the option to pay any difference in price to have this done at your regular vet clinic. If you are taking your pet to Petstock vet Mount Gambier, the vet will advise when this can be done. (For female kittens and puppies, this is usually around four and a half months old, for males it is 5-6 months old.)
If you are in Mt. Gambier you can phone petstock vets direct to arrange desexing by phoning 8725 3327. For female kittens, please phone when the kitten is 4 months old. For male kittens and all puppies, please phone when 5 months old. Please provide the pet's name when he/she was with Wet Noses (eg “Molly Wet Noses”).
MICROCHIPPING
Your new pet has been microchipped. There are two places the microchip is registered, and both are essential to ensure the safe return of your pet.
The first is registration with council (called DACO). We need to transfer this from our side, which we do as soon as we can after the two week trial has finished
The second is registration with Central Animal Records. Depending on when your pet was microchipped, you will either be asked to sign a form which we will lodge, Or be given a transfer form. It is essential that you lodge this form, otherwise you will not be contacted if your pet goes missing.
FLEA AND WORMING
Flea treatments are due monthly.
Kittens and puppies should be wormed 2 weekly until 12 weeks old, then monthly until 6 months old, then 3 monthly, for life.
