For more than a decade, we've called it the "New Gym," but Claremore Public Schools (CPS) will officially NAME THE GYM this summer. The multipurpose activity center houses wrestling, basketball, and volleyball. It also hosts assemblies & community events throughout the year.

CPS is asking students, parents, teachers, and community members to send their best ideas using this form.  We will accept suggestions until July 4, 2022.  

A committee of community members will review the selections and submit their top choices to the CPS Board of Education.

The Claremore Board of Education shall maintain consistent procedures in naming a new school facility or renaming an existing facility. A new facility will be named after the site has been selected and plans for construction have been approved by the Board of Education.
 
 The Board of Education has set the following criteria for the naming/renaming school facilities.
   
 1. Generally, facilities will be named geographically, historically, or by function.
 
On occasion, the Board of Education may choose to name a facility to honor a person who has rendered outstanding service to the Claremore Public School District, the community, the state, or the country. Generally, these would be individuals who are no longer living. Consideration would be given to those who have been deceased for at least two years.

On occasion, rooms within school facilities may be named after individuals who have contributed significantly to the school district or community.
 
A facility currently owned by the school district may be considered for naming or renaming if :

a. the facility does not have a name or
b. the facility will be housing a different student population or
c. the function it serves changes or
d. special circumstances as determined by the Board of Education.
