STOP OR DELAY MASSIVE MOSQUITO RELEASE PROGRAM IN BALI

We invite individuals who are concerned about health and environmental issues in Bali, Indonesia, and around the world to lend their voices to this petition for:

Transparency, Safety, and Deeper Consideration

BEFORE

The release of 200 million Wolbachia-infected mosquito eggs in Denpasar, scheduled for November 13, 2023.

This release was informally announced via Instagram by the Denpasar Local Government just one month ago. However, the unforeseen impact on human health and the environment will be permanent.

PETITION OBJECTIVES:

TO PROVIDE VARIOUS EVIDENCE UNDERPINNING THE URGENT NEED FOR DUE DILIGENCE PROCESSES REGARDING NATIONAL SECURITY, PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT, LEGAL, FINANCIAL, AND OPERATIONAL TECHNIQUES OF THE WOLBACHIA MOSQUITO RELEASE PROGRAM.

Summary of Unacceptable Risks to the Public:

  • The widespread release of millions of mosquitoes has a significant impact on tourism.
    • The World Mosquito Program's continuous breeding of Wolbachia bacteria in mosquito bodies will result in Bali's population and tourists having to contend with hundreds of millions of mosquito bites. Female mosquitoes must feed on blood before they can lay eggs, with each female producing 100 eggs three times during her adult life.
  • Global Petition to Stop Genetic Engineering - Gene Drive
    • Genetically engineered Gene Drive mosquitoes have not been approved for release in open environments or field testing due to their potential to introduce permanent genetic changes to ecosystems. The impacts on human health and the environment are unpredictable. Learn more here
    • After release, the spread of mosquitoes exposed to Wolbachia cannot be controlled or reversed. [Gene Drives: Assessing Benefits & Risks - Future of Life Institute] • International petitions have gathered over 308,000 signatures this year, asserting that gene drive research is so dangerous to humans and the environment that it should be halted globally. See the petition here

  • Who is responsible for the mosquito release in Bali
    • Will the World Mosquito Program, researchers, funders, mosquito egg producers, and universities conducting research be held accountable if errors or negative impacts occur.
    • Diseases and damages caused are almost impossible to trace.
    • Before the mosquito release, we need the Bali Environmental Agency and other relevant component authorities to DECLARE the extent of their obligations and authorities to veto the mosquito release.

  • No Consequences and Responsibilities Due to Biotechnology Impacts

    • Wolbachia symbiosis with parasites can worsen tropical diseases, while the initial goal of mosquito releases was to reduce them. See it on PubMed

    • Due Diligence for Mosquito Release
      • We strongly request a "Comprehensive Due Diligence Protocol" that includes an evaluation of national security, public health and environment, legal aspects, operational techniques of the Wolbachia mosquito release program, funding, transparency, comprehensive long-term risk assessment before the mosquito release is carried out.
    • The Denpasar Local Government in Bali must announce the following
      • The risk of spreading to other species, disproportionate and sustained increases in mosquito populations, risk assessment of gene transmission vertically in imported mosquito eggs, Wolbachia safety, and the application of Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time Of Flight (MALDI-TOF) & Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) using Wolbachia mosquitoes. See it here
    • Caution in the Use of MALDI-TOF MS & CNN in Mosquito Release for National Security & Resilience
      • Non-disclosure (must not be disclosed). Not disclosing the use of Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time Of Flight (MALDI-TOF) & Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) in mosquito release in Bali could threaten National Security and Resilience. See it here
  • Wolbachia Bacteria (Natural) and Internet Protocol Technology (IPT) through Wolbachia:
    • Model Expansion AU.pdf Download here
    • The World Mosquito Program (WMP) claims that Wolbachia bacteria and mosquitoes used in this research are natural and not genetically modified. See here
    • However, the insertion of Internet Protocol Technology (IPT); the use of automatic microinjections to introduce bacteria; and the creation of Gene Drives all require genetic engineering.
      • Artificial Intelligence in Mosquitoes: Artificial Intelligence simulations are used to analyze risks and biohazards (Artificial Intelligence Microsoft).
      • Disclaimers: Anyone responsible for monitoring, supervision, data collection, location mapping, and scheduling mosquito egg distribution is protected from liability by patents and legal immunity, and Microsoft is willing to cover legal expenses in case of copyright infringement. • Internet Protocol (IP) Technology Wolbachia in gene drive in Bali poses a significant threat to National Security and Resilience, Public Health and Safety, and the environment. The patent holders of Wolbachia IP Technology (Link of Paten Wolbachia IP) have claimed exclusive rights to all digital equipment, data collected and transmitted using this technology. This shows a conflict of interest for the World Mosquito Program.
      • There is a threat that injecting artificial intelligence technology through mosquito bites can transmit information to the human body with unknown intention using IP Technology (Internet Protocol) Wolbachia
