CALE Summer Institute 2022 - Application Form
You are invited to join the Critical Action Learning Exchange, a professional learning community “by and for teachers”, which aims to support teachers as they develop dramatic new forms of critical action curriculum that empower students in responding to issues of climate change, social and environmental justice, and other issues that serve to oppress them.

As teachers, we are called to action – if only to care for our students and provide a stronger sense of meaning and purpose in their schooling. As we emerge from the pandemic, many of us are wondering what new forms of curriculum we could venture into, that could really make a difference in the world, and in the lives of our students. This Summer, CALE will host a FREE Summer Institute dedicated to supporting teachers as they create such curriculum, within an ongoing community of peers who will stay in touch as they try out and refine their designs.

This Summer, we are hoping to engage a small community of teachers who have passion to design a new curriculum lesson, unit or whole course around the principles of Critical Action. A lesson could be as short as two or three class periods, but still create a significant opportunity for student voice. In applying for this Summer Institute, we hope you will have enough time and energy for such design work. Please indicate your likely amount of time and energy for curriculum design during the period of the Summer Institute. *
