Hello World has been developed as part of Copper Candle's research (funded by Innovate UK - Audience of The Future). Our overarching question in our research is to explore how Theatre and Performance may develop as the industry starts to incorporate more virtual / augmented reality technology into theatre-making.
In particular, with this performance, we are testing the notion of liveness within a virtual reality performance, seated with a metaverse environment.

Simply put, we want to find out what (at the early stage of its progression) are the strengths and weaknesses of theatre presented in the metaverse and how these relate to an audience's understanding of the work as an event which is 'live' or not.

The audience is central to how we want to create new forms of theatrical work within technology. For us development for developments shake is not enough - we want to create new forms of online-togetherness, interactivity and narrative construction, which we hope will help an audience feel more connected to this new form of practice.
