Still here? Welcome.
You're either serious... or serious-curious.
:)

This form is for people who want to become Climate Active, and actively fight for our community's future. By taking the time (about 10 minutes) to fill it out, you are helping us to understand how you might fit into the things we do... Your skills/hours/volunteerism combined with others can be a very potent thing.

All we're looking for is about 3 hours per month of your time. Some roles could be worked from home, while others could have your hands in the dirt. Yes, you can grow into a role, and you can do more.

If you can't volunteer 10 minutes to fill this out, then we understand that you are not that interested.
Use the email link above instead. If you need assistance filling this out, please contact Jackeline@urban-paradise.org, and she will arrange for someone to call you.

What is Climate Active?
Glad you asked. It means that we are working on projects that fight Climate Change.
We are not passively waiting for someone to save us, and we are doing a lot more than talking about it.

Urban Paradise Guild (UPG) is Miami's oldest Climate Active non-profit: we have been fighting the causes and effects of Climate Change since 2008. We don't just talk, or scold, or sound the alarm... we do projects.

Examples of UPG's Climate Active Work:
Urban Agriculture to help people feed themselves
Seeds For Haiti to help the Haitian people create food security in disaster areas of Haiti.
Urban Forestry to fight Habitat Loss
Green Defenses planted with Mangroves for fish estuaries and Bay water quality
Pollination Corridors to prevent localized butterfly Extinctions, and bring beauty into peoples' lives
Master planning spaces from an alley to a 60 acre park area
Pedestrian Trail activation and enhancement
Community Activism to prevent the over-development of natural areas, and to prevent destructive corporate greed from forcing bad energy, transit, resilience and development policies upon the public

These projects all prevent or resist Climate Change, in addition to all the other great values.
They are win-win-win projects: good for the community, for ecosystems, while also fighting for our future.

This is for people considering a routine commitment of about 3 hours per month (except during health/family leave periods), or as a series of projects. There are many ways to get involved, from out in the field to behind the scenes.

You could be joining an existing Team, or helping us launch a new one. Teams of 5-10 share their superpowers with the community through UPG. Each team combines issues and geography to focus on creating solutions.

This will help us align your time with others working on related goals, and identify overlapping time windows.

Thanks in advance, we are looking forward to meeting you.

Disaster Aid & Seeds Programs
UPG has been responding to Climate Emergencies since 2008, especially for our neighbors in FL, Haiti & PR.

We have managed millions of pounds of aid, and sent enough seeds to feed 30K people in Haiti.
Starting in 2022 (Ian), we are creating a framework for managing our aid efforts more proactively.

We hope to ramp up our Seeds for Haiti impacts with more Volunteer Staff (this means you).

If you sign up here, we may contact you before or after a hurricane impact to ask if you can help. Your responses guide us.
