Parent Input Form for Student Placement 21-22

Placement of children in classrooms for the next school year is a decision of great importance. We invite you to participate in this process. Your child's present teacher(s) have current, information and insight about the conditions under which your child learns best. Classroom Teachers, Specialists, and our Administrative Team meet to place students for the next year. As we work together to organize the new classes, we use many factors to create optimal class groups.

Class groups are balanced by gender as well as the strengths and needs of students. Additionally, teachers balance classes by Special Education needs, English as a Second Language needs, and Talented and Gifted needs. Teachers also look at the behavioral needs of students. With all of this considered, we also attempt to balance class groups by size whenever possible.

Please fill out the Parent Input Form if you would like to provide feedback into this process. The information will be shared with your child's current teacher. Parent input and information is only one factor and does not guarantee placement with a specific teacher. Please do not request a specific teacher. A great deal of time and effort goes into this process, and each child is individually considered and placed. Your input will be paired with input provided by your child's current teacher(s) when building balanced classes for the 2021-2022 school year.

In completing this form, please describe in detail the kind of classroom environment in which your child functions best. This is crucial due to the unknowns that also enter the student placement process, such as
1) Reassignment of teachers within the building due to enrollment changes or teachers wishes,
2) Teachers transferring to other Beaverton schools due to overstaffing or teacher request, and
3) Staffing changes due to teacher moves or hiring!

Our goal for every child is to place them in a classroom where they have the opportunity to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
