Thanks for your interest in volunteering for VBS 2022, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Olympia, WA!  We are going to have an amazing week together as we explore the mystery of who Jesus is.  VBS is the week of July 10-14 & 16, 2023.  

We take your safety and the safety of all very seriously. Masks are always welcome at Gloria Dei.  We are so pleased and grateful to be able to offer such a high quality fun program of faith development for children in our community.  We could not do so without your help.  Thank you in advance for your great care and for helping to nurture the faith of all the children who will attend.

Anyone who will be in seventh grade and older is welcome to volunteer.  VBS is from 8:50 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. Monday - Friday. Volunteers should arrive by 8:30 a.m. each day.  VBS Worship is at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 16. We provide staff child care for volunteers onsite and the registration fee is waived for children of VBS Volunteers who volunteer for the week.  Please complete this form to let us know how you would like to help.  It might work to help in more than one area, so please check all areas that interest you.

• Shepherds help build community within each grade level:  Pre-K, K, 1, 2, 3, 4.
• Teachers & Leaders for Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten.
• Activity leaders will lead one activity, repeating the activity for multiple age groups of children.
• Recreation leaders and helpers will engage children in recreational activities.
• Registration leader and helpers.  
• Greeters will help welcome children and families.
• Greeters are also needed for student check-out times at the end of each VBS session.
• Snack leaders & helpers will help prep snacks that will be distributed to children during snack time.
• Safety & Medical leaders will be on hand to assist with any safety or medical needs that arise.
• Tech Support volunteers will help with all tech needs, helping with social media, and helping to capture the week digitally.
• Staff Child Care:  People to care for children of VBS volunteers who are too young to attend VBS.
• Friday Fun volunteers will help with our fun Friday activity.
• Set Up:  These volunteers will ensure spaces are set up and welcoming for students.• Youth helpers in all areas. (Entering 7th grade on up!)
• People to provide special snacks for volunteers.
• A person or two to head up special snacks for VBS volunteers.
• Advance Prep:  These volunteers will do prep work needed for any activities such as cutting etc.

Masks are welcome at Gloria Dei. All volunteers will need to attend an in-person or Zoom Volunteer Training.  Volunteers over the age of 18 need to have a current Background Check completed every two years.  The forms will be emailed to you or are available in the church office.

VBS Volunteer Trainings will be held multiple times.  Please choose one of the training times below to attend.  The Zoom link will be emailed to volunteers. If none of these times will work for you, please arrange for a time to meet with Deacon Beth.
