Greetings Black Spartan and Congratulations!

You are cordially invited to participate in the 42nd Annual Black Grad Celebration. This will be an opportunity to celebrate your academic achievements thus far in front of your family, friends, faculty, and fellow graduates. Not only is this an event to mark the completion of your journey at San Jose State University, it is an opportunity to celebrate the scholastic endeavors of all the Black/African Diaspora community of Spartans. You are a part of the generation that is bridging the gap between those who have come before us, and those who will follow.

As a collective community, we have maintained the tradition of this event for 42 years, highlighting the strength and pride that we possess as Black Spartans. As graduates, you deserve recognition for your achievements and we want to make this year's virtual celebration a memorable one. This is your day. Let’s uphold our 41-year tradition and make this year’s Black Graduation one that we as graduates, our friends, family, and loved ones will never forget! We welcome and invite the families, friends, and support networks of our Black Graduates to attend and celebrate with us all in this remarkable moment in time.

SAVE THE DATE: In person and Virtual SJSU Black Grad Celebration will take place on Tuesday, May 21st, 2023 from 3:00pm - 5:00pm PST at the Event Center on the campus of San Jose State University.

ALL graduates and their guests are invited to join us in fellowship right after the ceremony at the Student Union patio for photos, light refreshments, and eats!
