Speaker's Biography

Hello! My name is Kai Song and I am a Junior at Tenafly High School (THS). I am the president of the THS Robotics Club and I captain one of our FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Teams. FTC is an international robotics competition organized by FIRST, in which high school and middle school students design, build, code, and test robots, and present their engineering design process to judges. Our FTC teams have won awards for Design and Innovation, and have placed Top 10 in the Northern NJ League. Besides Robotics, I am also a member of THS’ Science Olympiad team, winning 3rd and 6th in Food Science and Astronomy respectively, and Chinese Culture Club, performing the Lion Dance at our Lunar New Year Festival. I am also a part of THS’ Science Research Program, where I’ve designed and built multiple omni-directional robots. Currently, I am working on the novel use of non-pneumatic tires (airless tires) with omni-directional vehicles.
