Deadline for basketball sign-ups has been extended to 4/2/2021

It’s been a crazy year! Despite multiple attempts to try to run basketball indoors this winter, we were unable to find a way to make it happen. So, we’ve decided to offer spring basketball outdoors instead! We know the spring is a busy time of year, and we plan to make this program as flexible as possible. You absolutely will have the ability to participate in basketball when you are available, and still participate in whatever spring sport you play. I’ve outlined some details below, but know that some of the details are still a work in progress. The important thing is that we give the kids who are interested an opportunity to play some basketball! Let me know if you have any questions.

Who can sign up?
Boys and girls who are currently in grades 3 through 8 who attend Lee Elementary School, Lee Middle and High School or St. Mary’s School. Players will be broken into age groups which will be determined based on sign up numbers.

When will it start?
Weather permitting, we hope to start playing games at the outdoor basketball court in South Lee beginning the week of March 28th, and hopefully run through the end of May.

How will it work?
Every week, I will send out an email with a link to the schedule of game(s) for all of the age groups. You will be asked to indicate your availability for that week. We completely understand that there will be times when basketball conflicts with spring sports obligations, and do not want anyone missing their spring sports games/practices to attend basketball. Once we know who is available for a given game time, we will make teams for that week. The plan is to play games where there are coaches, officials, scorekeepers, etc. They will be played on Sunday mornings/afternoons and Monday through Thursday afternoons/evenings, and the team you play with may change week to week.

Cost
There will be a $20 fee to participate. All players will also need to have a black and a white shirt option they can wear to games.

COVID-19 Precautions
Mask wearing, hand sanitizing, and social distancing will be practiced at all times. Games will follow the guidelines put in place by Berkshire County High Schools for basketball competition. Any spectators will need to wear a mask and abide by social distancing guidelines.

Registration
Go to www.lyahoop.com to complete the online registration form by Friday, March 26th. Full payment will be due by the first day your child participates. Checks can be made out to the Lee Youth Association (LYA), and can be mailed to:
