Time for big school, time to put on those big pants! There comes a time in a young competition horse’s education where we need to teach them about travelling out to shows, standing in the lorry to be tacked up, being able to focus whilst running around with other horses, and all this in a strange environment.
Often the only opportunity is a clear round, competition situation or group training. This can be overwhelming for all concerned, physically and mentally. This workshop gives you the opportunity to incrementally build trust in your partnership over a period of weeks.
The series of polework sessions will prepare you as a partnership for working away from home, in a more controlled environment. A small challenge each week will build confidence and fitness, without overwhelming mentally. Polework is an excellent way to introduce horses to jumping, improve proprioception and developer technical skills.
The initial three sessions will be 1-2-1 and are planned for April dates. As young horses tire quickly the work sessions will be 30 minutes to avoid fatiguing the horse and putting them off the whole thing. Each session will have an incremental goal. The final session will be Saturday 25th May @ 2PM.
At the final session we will all come together to work as a group (maximum 3 horses), afterwards we will have a debrief over a cup of tea to discuss what we have all learnt over the workshop period and what the next steps are.
You can select the dates for the initial sessions from a number in April, lower down on this form.
