2023-2024 CHSAA Speech Judge Certification Test
Instructions:
Complete all questions listed on this test before selecting the "Submit" button. Choose the multiple choice answer that best completes the statement or answers the question. There is only one correct answer for each question listed on the test.

This judge certification test also includes an anti-bias training section. This section is ungraded and is designed to provide an opportunity to grow as an adjudicator by helping you recognize implicit biases you may have.

You may certify as a speech judge for the 3A State Tournament and/or the 4A/5A State Tournaments. Please refer to the current CHSAA Speech and Debate Handbook for the rules governing each event. These handbooks, rules and other documents can be accessed here:  CLICK HERE FOR SPEECH AND DEBATE HANDBOOK

When you submit the test, you will see your score immediately. Your score must be a 90% (50/55) or better. If your score is less than 100%, please review the problems that you got wrong. An explanation of the correct answer will be provided. If your score is lower than 90%, you will need to retest.

Judges for the State Tournaments must serve as a critic at a minimum of one tournament during the regular season. This requirement can be waived  for former competitors by contacting Nicole Jimenez (njimenez@chsaa.org) for a waiver. This certification test must be completed before judging at any State Tournament.

ALL JUDGES MUST ANSWER QUESTIONS 1-42 and 51-52
