Yale University Invitational Tournament Fall 2022 Registration
Please fill out this form to register for the Yale University Invitational Tournament Fall 2022. Registration will be open until Friday, October 28th at 11:59 PM. 
  • When: October 30th (Sunday), first round starts at 11 AM.
  • Where: Watson Center at Yale University (60 Sachem St, New Haven, CT, 06511).
  • Schedule: Four (4) rounds of G/30 d5 (30 minutes, delay of 5 seconds). Rounds commence at 11 AM, 1 PM, 2:30 PM, 4 PM or otherwise ASAP. Pizza lunch will be provided. One half-point bye may be requested by 11:59 PM of Friday, October 28th (please edit the "request bye" section below). Optional unrated blitz tournament at 6 PM, provided interest, tentatively four (4) double rounds of G/3 d2 (details TBD). 
  • Sections: Open, U1600, U1200, or Unrated. Sections may be combined. You must have a USCF membership in order to play in a rated section. Memberships can be purchased here. We will have additional tournaments later this year so you will likely get use out of the membership.
  • Prizes: Total $350 provided 30 entries, guaranteed 50%. Open: $75/$50/$25; U1600: $35/$20/$15; U1200: $30/$20/$15; Unrated: $20/$15/$10 (3rd-5th). Prizes may change if sections are combined. Blitz: $25/$15/$10. Premium chess.com memberships will also be awarded.
  • Entry Fee: $10 General or $5 Yale Students/Affiliates paid via Venmo or PayPal for classical & (optional) blitz tournaments. No on-site registration. Please contact chris.tanaka@yale.edu if the entry fee is prohibitive, and accommodations can be made. 
  • COVID Protocols: Up-to-date vaccination is mandatory, but masking will not be required. 
  • Refund & Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to play, please contact chris.tanaka@yale.edu no later than Friday, October 28th at 11:59 PM to request a refund. We are unable to provide refunds past that time, nor for no-shows.
  • Chess Sets: Although we expect to be able to accommodate all players, please bring your chess sets and clocks!
