Dr. Kelechi Uwaezuoke is a two time Cal alum receiving both her BA and doctorate in Public Health from UC Berkeley. Her research interests include exploring the educational experiences of under-represented minority pre-med students in the University of California system, the role of pipeline programs in increasing health workforce diversity and program evaluation as a means of identifying best practices for increasing educational equity and institutional change. Dr. Uwaezuoke went on to receive her MPH from Drexel University, with a concentration in Community Health and Prevention. Her position as Health Education Program Manager for the Solano Coalition for Better Health led her back to the Bay Area, where she worked for three years developing, implementing and managing programs aimed towards increasing access to healthcare and reducing health inequities in Solano County. Prior to starting the doctoral program, Dr. Uwaezuoke spent three years as manager for the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) and undergraduate career/graduate education advisor at UC Berkeley School of Public Health. She has a wealth of experience in educating and empowering under-represented and disadvantaged students and communities. Over the last decade, she has advised and mentored hundreds of students in the Bay Area. She is driven by her personal life’s mission to “help people and institutions make the transition from knowledge to necessary action” as a means of improving life and community outcomes. She is inspired daily by her belief that “Hope Changes Things” and utilizes hope and encouragement daily to equip, educate and empower future generations of healthcare and public health leaders and visionaries.
