2024 Camp Staff Application
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN WORKING AT SPIRIT IN THE PINES! All young adults who are 18+ and will be one year post high school (as of June 2024) are eligible to apply for a paid staff position at Spirit in the Pines Camp next summer.

LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE FOR SUMMER 2024: Our onsite leadership for camp will include the Camp Director (Sarah), the Assistant Director (Meghan), and the Program Director (Caleb). Two of these three leaders will be onsite at all times, except for family camp weekends. On family camp weekends only one of these three leaders will be present, and they will be joined by a pastor or staff member from St. Andrew. The Program Lead (an "add-on" described further in this application) will work directly with these three leaders and will be involved in the facilitation of all aspects of camp planning.

17 OPEN POSITIONS: We are looking to hire 1 Health Care Manager ($455/wk) and 16 program staff members working in three squads ($410/wk). All positions are 11 week positions. One of the 16 positions could become a Kitchen Assistant position if an applicant had interest in that role (with the associated "add-on" for the kitchen).

9 PAID "ADD-ON" POSITIONS: This year we are offering 9 paid "add-on's" that each consist of an additional weekly task set. Anyone applying for a program staff position can also apply for one of these 9 additional responsibilities (at either $50/wk or $75/wk additional salary). These 9 positions include: Social Media Specialist, Research Analyst, Canteen Coordinator, Videographer, Inclusion Facilitator, Maintenance Assistant, Arts & Crafts Organizer, Kitchen Assistant, and Program Lead. Preference is given for these positions to returning staff when possible.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: We provide a $40/month cell phone allowance. Additionally, food and Lodging is included for all residential staff. This includes 230 meals and all lodging expenses including utilities (an estimated combined value of $2400). Workman's compensation insurance is included for work related injuries. Being on camp staff is a unique job - and we try to recognize and celebrate everyone's efforts throughout the summer (ex: whitewater rafting trip, mini golf, catered meals, etc.).

EMPLOYMENT DATES: All positions run from May 30 - August 16, with 12 hours of required online training to be scheduled during the month of May.

PAID TIME OFF (PTO): All positions include 2 days off per week that are typically taken on the weekends. Beyond this each staff member is also given 9 PTO days to use at their discretion for vacation or illness. We are encouraging each staff member to considering using 5 of these 9 PTO days to take at least 1 week of camp fully off. Each staff member is required to work a minimum of two weekends, and when this happens their normal two days off would move to weekdays at a time of their choosing (M-F).

REQUIREMENTS: Must possess good physical stamina with long hours and the majority of time spent outdoors. Working at camp takes a lot of energy, patience, and cooperation. All staff members are encouraged to delegate so that people get time off during the day.

KITCHEN SUPPORT: We are hiring at least one more kitchen assistant in order to reduce the amount of time program staff are asked to work in the kitchen. Next summer program staff can expect their time in the kitchen to be reduced by half. This means that all program staff will only have one kitchen week, one kitchen weekend, and zero additional kitchen days.

REFERENCES: All applicants must provide two personal references, and applications will not be considered until those have been submitted. A link for your references will be emailed to you after you submit this form.

IMPORTANT: Please allow enough time to complete this form in one sitting. You will not be able to edit your responses afterwards. If you close the application before completing it, you can start from the beginning at another time.

QUESTIONS: If you need any more information please contact the full Camp Team at campingministry@standrewlu.org.

PARTIAL SUMMER OPTIONS: We are open to exploring partial-summer positions for all of the positions included in this online application form. This is not our preference, and we will seek first to fill all roles with a full summer employee. However, if this is of interest to you, we can discuss it during the interview. Please fill out the application as is.
