As the research shows, mentorship plays a key role in the success and retention of students of color, particularly those who identify as first-generation college students (Macphee, Farro, & Canetto, 2013). Now that UCSD reached HSI status and as of 2016 38% first-generation student population it has never been more important as staff to be able to support our students.
As CLSA members, many of us already formally or informally mentor students. The CLSA mentorship program hopes to facilitate and support the mentorship efforts already in place for Latinx staff and students. If you are interested in participating in the 2022-2023 CLSA Mentorship program, please complete this form to tell us a little bit about yourself and your availability (*recommended 1 hr biweekly meetings and biweekly check in via text or email). This will help us gauge how many students we can invite to participate in the mentorship program.
