Freelance Writer - Math Foundations
“When are we going to use this?” -- at least one student in every math class ever, probably. Many students struggle to connect mathematics to their daily lives or carry a lot of feelings about their mathematical abilities. But from applying for a loan to why we count the way that we count, math is all around us, if only we stop and appreciate it.

At Complexly, we make videos that help our audiences develop a nuanced and complex view of the world around us. In partnership with Arizona State University and YouTube, we are creating a 30-episode series on math fundamentals. This series will cover much of the college-level math someone needs to be successful in real life, or for a non-calculus course that satisfies a college math requirement. We’ll tackle numerical reasoning, sets, counting techniques, probability, basic statistics, and finance. Math, problem-solving, and learning how to learn are essential skills, and everyone should feel they are capable of doing and understanding math.

As a freelance writer, you will be responsible for researching and writing scripts on pre-selected foundational math-related topics, working closely with other team members and subject-matter experts to develop comprehensive and consistent scripts. You'll receive feedback from our partners at ASU and our script editor to refine your work until it's ready for production. Being able to collaborate with others effectively and respectfully is essential. Many people face significant math anxiety; it's important to build thoughtful and empathetic narratives around the subject.
