Registration for the 1st Killer Chess Training Open
See the full list of participants here. https://turnering.skak.dk/TournamentActive/Details?tourId=28253

At the moment we are anticipating to have the pairings available two places, a few minutes after each round. Links and more information will routinely become available here.

The tournament address is Rosenvængets Alle 31, 2100.

Tea and sparkling water will be free during the tournament. Coffee, beers and sodas will be sold at close to cost.

Special rules relating to behaviour and fair play will be posted Thursday evening and be entirely common sense.

WE HAVE CLOSED FOR ENTRIES at 46 participants. We assume all will play, but if need be, Jacob will play the first two rounds before withdrawing from the tournament.

Anyone not showing up for registration risk having no opponent in the first round!!

Some additional information regarding the Killer Chess Training Open 2023 after a meeting between the Chief Arbiter and Chief Organiser – which is another way of saying Arild and I – this evening.

Registration

Arrive for registration no later than 13:45 please. If you for any reason see that you are bound to arrive 14:00 or later, CALL ME at +45 36 20 05 46 or send me an email to kctopen@gmail.com.

We aim to have the first pairing ready around 14.15, but make no absolute promises.

The round starts at 15.00. Don’t be late, please. The first day the default time is only 15 minutes. If you are not in the club at 15.00 and have not arrived by 15.15, you will be forfeited. On all other days, the leniency is 30 minutes.

Fair Play

The FIDE rules will be obeyed at the tournament and this means a lot of obvious things. But to avoid confusion, here are some obvious points.

Mobile phones, smart watches, digital pens or any other digital devices must be deposited with the arbiter or organiser before the start of the round. We have envelopes with your names on that will be reused during the tournament. Bags with digital devices can be placed in the office, it is not enough to have digital devices in a jacket, bag or similar.

Non-players (spectators) are not allowed to talk to players playing. Spectators must hand over mobile phones to the organisers on arrival. No computers are allowed to be turned on in the club during game play, whether by a player, spectator, family member or dog...

The clarity of this rule have the aim of protecting the integrity of the games, as well as protecting the players from unfair.

You can retrieve your digital device when you are leaving. If you need to use it, and return, we will work it out. But you cannot have active digital devices on you while games are ongoing.

No draws can be agreed before move 30. If a three fold repetition happens before move 30 and the game will be drawn from this repetition (including doing it more times as well), the white player will fall to the back of the tie-break for prizes.

Jacob Aagaard will deposit his personal digital devices along with those of the participants, but after 15-20 minutes of game play, with a grace period to take photos.

Kallia Kleisarchaki shall be allowed to take photos at all times.

The arbiters will be allowed to have their devices on them, but the only use of mobile phones in the playing area shall be that of taking photos.

The players shall not engage in conversation during the games. Especially not with third parties, for example parents.

The players shall stay in the playing area, the bar area and the rest rooms, during play.

The analysis room and the front room are prohibited areas during game play.

The only exception is for those needing to go outside to smoke, who can pass through the front room, without engaging in conversations.

The smoking area is across the street from the club. It is not allowed to smoke outside the entrance of the club and can lead to a severe penalty. If a player is smoking during the game, they shall not engage in conversation with anyone outside the club area, or in the front room.

Social event

A group of us will visit to the restaurant Royal Cuisine on Monday evening at 19.00 (Rønnegade 1, 2100 København Ø). It is a Chinese/Mongolian Buffet with Sushi as well. The buffet costs about 179 DKK. Please tell us latest on the Sunday if you want to join us!

After the prize giving on Sunday the 22nd we will organise a blitz tournament with a prize fund of 3000 kr. The entry fee will be 100 kr. If any participant in the main tournament feel tight, financially, they can get free entry. We will buy a lot of pizzas for 15.00 and invite all players to stay and hang out at least to the prize giving.

The bar

The bar will be run without a profit. We will provide tea and sparkling water for free. Beers, sodas and coffee will be sold at close to cost. We will have a piggy bank for coins, and a list where you can write up your purchases as well and pay us later with mobile pay or bank notes.

We will not sell food or candy. You are allowed to bring your own food, but please do not eat at the board.

Part of the fridge can be used for whatever you bring. At the end of the day, we will bin anything forgotten.

If people would help with doing the dishes once during the tournament, it would be great!

Proper behaviour

The tournament is a work place the many and should be treated as such by all. Most people do not go to their work place for social interaction and although social interaction is not prohibited in any way, we

Travel in Copenhagen

Public transport is great. Get the travel card at arrival in the airport. Put money on it and travel for approximately 2-3€ everywhere.

These links will tell you more about it.

The club is at Rosenvængets Alle 31, 2100 Copenhagen Ø. Close to TRIANGLEN Metro and between the train stations Østerbro and Nordhavn. Lots of busses are close to the club too. The Metro especially is great. The M3 line (red) has a new train every few minutes and at all hours.

Google Maps will help you plan your travels. It works really well here.

Best wishes,

Jacob Aagaard

The rate of play will be 75 minutes/40 moves + 30 minutes to finish the game, and 30 seconds increment from move 1. No draw offers permitted before both players has made 30 moves.
Forcing a draw by three-time repetition before move 30 with White will ruin your tie-breaks!

It goes without saying that the tournament will be FIDE rated and the time control makes it eligible for title-norms. Current participants (ratings at the time of registration – P meaning paid):
