Community Voices: Speaking Truth (CV) Youth Inquiry Form
Thank you for your interest in Community Voices: Speaking Truth (CV). CV is a public health-equity oriented youth program for the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service (CCHERS).

Community Voices offers young people an opportunity to learn about the history, principles, racial health disparities, and research methods of public health. Students then use those acquired skills and knowledge to engage with the community through a youth-led participatory research action project.

This job opportunity is available for youth (14-18) from the Boston area. Bi-lingual and Health/Medical-Assistant track students from the Boston Public Schools are encouraged to apply! Two supervisor (19-23)

Since 2020, CV has pivoted to address the digital divide, or unequal access to technology for elders in the Greater Roxbury community. Accordingly, previous cohorts of CV youth have created a computer literacy curriculum to teach elders basic and essential competencies; and have hosted bi-weekly afternoon classes onsite at Boston Housing Authority's (BHA) Doris Bunte Apartments and Madison Park Development Corporation's (MPDC) Smith House. This youth-led digital equity initiative is on-going.

Youth Job Description & Specifics:
  • Review, revise, and update an elder-specific computer literacy curriculum.  
  • Pair with an elder from each development to teach basic computer competencies.
  • Participate in weekly workshops from a wide-swath of categories, which include professional development, social-emotional learning, and public health.
  • Must be able to work after school between the hours of 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday, for a maximum of 10 hours a week.
  •  Pay is $14.25/hour.
  • Must be able to travel to partner sites in Roxbury. 
  • An interview is required.
