Feeding Gloucestershire, Gloucester City Council and Good Food Cheltenham are collaborating on a cross district community conversation asking our communities ‘Good Food- what does it means to you?’.
The way all of us produce, buy, cook, eat and throw away food is important and we believe in the true value of good food for people, places, and planet. Ultra processed food impacts our health, our communities, our economy, and contributes to the climate and ecological emergencies the planet faces today. We class good food as:
- HEALTHY -
It is tasty, it provides nourishment and enables people to thrive.
- GREEN -
It is produced in a nature-positive way, seasonally, free from chemicals and not wasted.
- FAIR -
Everyone along the food chain has been treated well and everyone is paid fairly.
- ACCESSIBLE -
Accessible – quality food is available to all and not wasted.
Gloucester City Council have launched their Nourishing Gloucester campaign which sets out to ensure that in the future everyone in Gloucester has access to nutritious food and no one goes hungry, whilst also acknowledging that there are broader issues affecting our neighborhoods which are closely interlinked with food insecurity.Good Food Cheltenham is a campaign driven by a group of community growers, food providers and sustainability experts looking to change the local community food system from emergency footing to a more vibrant, healthier, sustainable, and equitable food system across Cheltenham.
Our joint ‘Good Food- what does it means to you?’ conversation is an opportunity to inform our citizens about what good food is and details about each campaign; consult with communities on the barriers they face to accessing and eating good food and to engage with those people who would like to get involved in developing ideas and solutions for the future.
