The Hawai`i Youth Opera Chorus' summer intensive youth opera / theater program. In collaboration with the Hawai`i Opera Theatre Education Program.

Program Times and Days: Afternoons from 1:00 - 5:00 PM, HST - Monday to Friday.
Open to: Grades: entering 5 through graduating Seniors.
Classes will be held in person experience.

info@hyoc.orgWhat does Program Include? Instruction in Stage Craft, Drama, Vocal Technique, Movement, Dance, Musicianship, Audition skills, creation of props and costumes. Classes held IN Person.
We are presenting this summer a NEW production called "Scales" about Mo`o (dragons) on Maui. Based on an original story written by a native Hawaiian author and composed by an HYOC alum! These Mo`o take on human form with each Mo`o possessing a special gift. This will be the 9th opera commissioned by HYOC. And our participants will be debuting this NEW production! Students will perform ALL roles and participate in ensemble and solo work. This summer's experience will focus on the Chorus scenes fully staged and performed.
Come develop and hone performance skills, solo singing skills, develop skills as a singing actor, learn Hawaiian culture, Hawaiian History and Hawaiian Legends make friends and have fun!
It is very important that ALL Students commit to the full 3 week daily experience. This is a very intense program and there is a lot to accomplish in 3 very short weeks. Missing even an hour puts a student behind. Make sure to adjust your schedules to allow your FULL participation.
There will be 2 performances. Performance location to be announced.
Complete and submit your information as soon as possible, but no later than June 5, 2024.Full program fees will be due on June 12th, the first day of the program.
If you are in need of a payment plan or scholarship consideration please contact our offices. All financial considerations will need to complete the Financial Aid Application available by request from our office. Keep in mind scholarship assistance if any is based on sufficient grant support received to support this program.
Scholarship assistance cannot be guaranteed until the start of the program.This program is being offered subject to enrollment. If minimum enrollment numbers are not met (25 students), your deposit of $75.00 will be returned but not the initial $10.00 application / audition fee.
