Scio 2020-2021 School Year Family Survey #2
We would like to thank everyone for their participation in our first family survey regarding the re-opening of our schools next fall.  We have collected the data from the first survey and compared it to the current guidance from the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority.  With that in mind we have another brief survey to ask for more input.  Please know we are taking your feedback seriously as we attempt to meet the needs of our community and comply with the guidance provided to us.  Student and staff safety will always be our first and foremost priority with any decisions we make.

We apologize in advance for the repeat of the demographic questions 1-3 but this really does allow us to adapt our plans to specific student needs.

Thank you in advance for taking a few moments to respond and give us your feedback.

Initial Data Collected...
Below you will see the results from our first survey in regards to the preferred educational delivery model.  We had a total of 227 responses, representing 449 students.  Our current total student population is around 700, so we were happy with this response.  Out of these responses...

-147 responses representing a total of 279 students chose All in-person learning if at all possible
-63 responses representing a total of 134 students chose A blended model
-10 responses representing a total of 23 students chose All learning conducted remotely via online learning
-4 responses representing a total of 6 students indicated they will home school next year
-3 responses representing a total of 7 students indicated they will enroll in a charter or private school (please note: all private and charter schools operating in-person will be required to meet the same health protocol guidelines as public schools)

A total of 92.6% of the responses indicated they would like some form of in-person instruction next fall.  We understand there are specific instances of students in high risk categories and would require all learning remotely.  Our goal is to come up with an option to support all of our students.

Currently, all indications from ODE and OHA are that we will have to meet a number of criteria to have in-person school.  These requirements could make it difficult to have school return in full capacity next fall.  With that in mind, the questions that follow will help us to determine how we will provide as much in-person instruction as possible, still meet the requirements given to us, and keep all students and staff as safe as possible.

Again thank you for your feedback!

If public health officials allow in-person instruction in the Fall but restrictions require a blended model due to limited number of students being able to attend at any one time, I would prefer... *
One area of most concern is busing.  As we load students on our buses, many protocols will need to be put in place.  Basically the less students on a bus, the safer the situation. Please indicate below your need for busing this fall.  (Please understand busing next fall may look different; possibly multiple routes to keep loads smaller, only able to drop off at one location as opposed to multiple depending on the day of the week or need of the family, etc.)

We are considering having public forums to gather input and engage in a question and answer session with our families.  We understand this is a difficult situation for all and having more information is helpful when there is uncertainty. We also know the guidance will change throughout the summer. With that being said, would you...
