7th-8th Grade Battle of the Books Sign Up
The Chicago Public Schools Department of Libraries hosts the Battle of the Books to encourage ongoing reading, teamwork and partnership. Teams are comprised of students in grades 7-8 and will be facilitated this year by Ms. Askounis.

In preparation for the local school competition, students will work in teams of 4-6. Each team member is responsible for reading all 21 books on the official list.  During the local school competition, students will answer questions about the books on an individual test and during team “battles”. The students with the highest score will gain a spot on the winning team that represents our school in the Citywide online competition.

Who? Students in grades 7th & 8th

Where? Ms. Askounis' Classroom (Room 109)

When? Wednesdays 2:45-3:45 (bring a healthy snack)

Cost? $50 in kind gift. If students need a waiver, see Ms. Negrón. $50 covers the full session of Battle of the Books

My child has permission to be a part of battle of the books. This includes participation in the citywide competition on Saturday, April 23rd if my child makes the final team. My child will stay after school for all practices and be picked up on Wednesdays from door 1 at 3:45 . *
I understand that I need to send in a $50 check to the Decatur front office. Checks should be made out to "Decatur Classical School" and have "Battle of the Books" in the memo line. Please label clearly with your child's name - sending in an envelope works great! *
