Diversity and Science Lecture (DASL) Speaker Nomination Form, 2021-2022
DASL GOALS: We are a life science trainee-led lecture series that highlights the outstanding science driven by scientists from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds in San Diego and at partner institutions. We empower diverse trainees to become leaders in their fields by amplifying their voices.
SESSION FORMAT: DASL sessions take place virtually on Wednesdays from 11-12 PM PT (2-3 PM ET). These 1-hour lectures feature two trainees. Each speaker gives a 15- to 20-minute presentation on their scientific discoveries as well as their comments on the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in STEM.
MORE DETAILS: Comments on EDI can take the form of personal experience and/or advice on achieving equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM. The research portion of the talk typically comprises 10 minutes. Speakers who wish to address scientific training or education (e.g., from a social science or engineering perspective) are also welcome.
SUMMARY: If you know someone in science with a unique story or perspective, we want to hear from them! Nominate below.
