Please provide your PPEL questions
Marshalltown Community School District residents will vote Tuesday, March 5, 2024, on the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL). This levy generates funds that can only be used for infrastructure and equipment repairs, purchases, and improvements.

The district will host two information meetings to give MCSD residents an opportunity to learn more about the voted PPEL and how it supports the district. We also want to hear what questions you might have about PPEL and the March 5 election.

These meetings will take place on the following dates:
  • Wednesday, February 7: Virtual Voted PPEL Meeting, 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 8: Coffee Conversation About Voted PPEL, 9:00 a.m., Orpheum Blackbox Theater
MCSD's current voted PPEL of $0.67 will sunset in June 2025 without voter approval. If the measure on the ballot is approved in March, the levy would remain in place through 2035 at a rate of $1.34 per $1,000 of taxable property value.

An approved PPEL on March 5 will not increase property taxes because MCSD is positioned to increase the voted PPEL without raising the district’s overall tax levy of $15.99 per $1,000 of taxable property value.
