We believe you would be a great Teen Camp Counselor for the 2023 James City County, King William and King & Queen County, New Kent, and Charles City Junior 4-H Camp. We want the most enthusiastic and responsible teens to be teen counselors for our 4-H camp week. In order to be considered for selection you must:
You must have three references (not family members). If your references would like to fill out the form online, please supply the 4-H office with their e-mail address and we will send them a URL. If your references would like to use a hard copy- you should provide your references with the form, as well as an addressed and stamped envelope. Reference forms are due by January 1. All applicants (including returning counselors) must have three reference forms.
All Camp Counselors will be required to attend an interview, this year this may be in-person, Zoom, Google Meets or phone. You will be contacted about your interview after we receive your application.

Teen Counselors are role models who help supervise campers and provide for their safety and well-being. Counselors will supervise campers during activities, assemblies, in cabins or lodges, and in classes. Teen counselors work with adult volunteers and Virginia Cooperative Extension staff and are under the direction of the Extension 4-H Agent.
Requirements
15 years or older by June 1, 2023
Attend at least 24 hours of training. Trainings dates and times to be determined later. The expectation is that you will make every effort to attend all trainings.
Must be: mature, responsible, dependable, respectful, work well with others, have a positive attitude, and be a good role model.
Camp Counselor Fee to be determined. Payable before camp.
