Page County Public Schools is interested in forming local partnerships with community businesses to help students gain real-life, job specific skills. PCPS is currently looking for businesses that are interested in helping us make a positive impact in our local community. Working with PCPS will allow businesses to have the opportunity for brand visibility, talent recruitment and skills development, plus these partnerships will allow businesses a platform to invest in the future while working with local students.

If your business is interested in partnering with Page County Public Schools, please choose as many connections as your business would like to make from the list below.

Internship Placements- Places the student in a real workplace environment for a minimum of 280 hours during the school year. This placement allows the student to develop and practice career-related knowledge and skills for a specific career field related to the student’s career interests, abilities, and goals. Internships may be paid or unpaid. Student interns are guided by a formal, written training plan that defines specific academic and workplace skills to be mastered. Students are given an “Internship period’ during the school day if it fits in their schedule.

Mentorship Placements- The student is paired with a community professional who has a recognized record of achievement and first-hand experience in the occupational field or career cluster of the student's choice. Mentorship experience requires students to accumulate a minimum of 140 hours of working in the workplace environment. Mentors are encouraged to provide the student with as much hands-on experience as possible and to provide a broad view of the business/industry as well as routine tasks and challenging opportunities.

Cooperative Placements- is a paid experience that connects CTE classroom instruction and practical work experience. The work experience must relate directly to the student’s interests, abilities, and goals as well as the CTE course in which the student is enrolled. Co-Op combines a rigorous and relevant curriculum with an occupational specialty. Students participating in Co-Op are guided by a formal, written training plan that defines specific academic and workplace skills to be mastered.

Job Shadowing- Job shadowing places students in workplaces, to interact with and observe the jobsite short-term. Job shadowing experiences are sometimes the first opportunities for students to observe the workplace and to interact with employees for more in-depth exposure to both careers and workplaces. Job shadowing can be selected for short term experiences (1 day) or medium length experiences (multiple day) depending on work site and student interest.

Guest Speaking opportunities- Businesses interested in visiting local schools to speak with select classes and/or grade levels may choose this option. Businesses can request classes or be put in our database for teachers/principals to choose from.

Skills workshops- Businesses interested in teaching soft skills or job specific skills to local students may select this option. Workshops may be set by grade level. PCPS is actively searching for presenters for soft skills workshops for our students.
