1. SOMATIC SABOR WORKSHOP

Somatic Sabor is a new workshop that revels in the intersections between modern/post-modern dance and social dances of the Latin & African diasporas. Threaded by elemental principles--rootedness (earth), fluidity (water), breath (air), and rhythm (fire)--these dance traditions are brought together harmoniously and playfully, allowing dancers to experience new and exciting possibilities for movement in their bodies. Please note--this workshop is meant for dancers with prior experience in modern/contemporary dance.
2. DANCING DIASPORA THROWBACK CLASS + MARINA'S BDAY BASH

It’s a throwback party amiges… that's right! Dancing Diaspora is back for ONE NIGHT ONLY! Join DD Founder & Lead Teacher, Marina Magalhães, in a special class featuring all your favorite DD moves & tunes. Stay after class to celebrate Marina’s bday with some delicious comiditas and a live DJ set by the amazing DJ Muñeka!
3. SAMBA ENCOUNTERS WORKSHOP WITH MARINA & VERA

Time: 7:30-9:30 PM
Level: ALL BODIES/LEVELS!
Join master teachers Vera Passos & Marina Magalhães in a unique exploration of diverse Samba styles and elements, paying honor to Samba’s roots as a form of cultural resistance and radical joy. With live drums!

Sliding Scale: $15-30/class*
The sliding scale makes it possible for our dance community to redistribute according to need and pay it forward according to means. Please select one of the below tiers that resonates with you, and thank you deeply for showing up for our community!
- Angel Gift: $30+/class (contributing to the sustainability & longevity of the artist's work!)
- Resourced & Aware: $30/class
- Middle of the Road: $20-25/class
- Community Rate: $15/class
*No one turned away for lack of funds. If you are unable to pay the community rate, please reach out so we can discuss further options (discounted rate, scholarship spot, etc).
Note for 6/16 Event: if you want to attend ONLY Marina's Bday Bash (arriving after 9pm, not attending the Dancing Diaspora Throwback Class) it's $5 (or more) per person.

LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY
All events will take place at the (NEW!) Pieter Performance Space located at 2701 N Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90031.
Free parking is available directly behind our building at 2412 Workman Street. There are two additional free city lots south of Broadway on Workman Street. There is also ample metered parking in the neighborhood.
The space is located on the 2nd floor with one flight of stairs directly up from the entrance. Elevator access is available; please email hannah.h.joo@gmail.com prior to event if you will be using it. The elevator is spacious enough for any mobility device and the 2nd floor space is free of any steps or mobility barriers. There are no automated doors in the building.
There are two all-gender restrooms with three private stalls and a urinal. Each restroom has one stall accessible for mobility device users.
