2023-2024 Lourdes Band Interest Form
Welcome to the 2023-2024 Our Lady of Lourdes Band Program! My name is Casey D'Sola and this will be my fifth year as the Director of Bands at Lourdes. I am excited to be starting the school year and to have the opportunity to work with your students! My goal is to challenge band students by establishing a thorough technique/tone program as well as providing students with fun and engaging music to perform. Ultimately, I want each and every student to enjoy making music!

Please find more information about our program below. The rehearsal schedule and class offerings (beginning band, concert band, percussion ensemble, etc) will be released once I have a better idea of the number of students in the program. I am finishing up a cruise ship performance contract so we'll look to start band classes during the second week of October.

  • Program cost is $250 per student. Checks should be made out to “Our Lady of Lourdes.”
  • All rehearsals are scheduled from 7:30 am-8:00 am and will be held in the Music Room. Beginning students will rehearse Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Continuing band students will rehearse Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Students are asked to arrive between 7:20 am and 7:25 am in order to set up and prepare for rehearsal.
  • Beginning students are required to rent their own instrument and purchase their own method book. I suggest going to Music and Arts for both of these. The method book we are going to use is entitled, “Essential Elements 2000.” Each student will need to purchase his or her instrument specific book (ex. Essential Elements Flute, Essential Elements Trumpet, etc).
  • Beginning students may choose from the following instruments: flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone or percussion.
  • Beginning clarinet players will need to purchase reeds in addition to their clarinet. I suggest a 2.5 hardness and a box of 6-12.
  • Beginning trumpet players will need to purchase valve oil in addition to their trumpet.
  • Beginning trombone players will need to purchase slide oil in addition to their trombone.
  • Beginning percussionists will need to purchase a pair of snare drum sticks (Vic Firth SD1 Generals).
  • Students will need to bring their method book, instrument and 3-ring binder (with page protectors) to each rehearsal.
