Irish Traveller Movement - Mapping exercise
In the youth sector many young Travellers are perceived to disengage from services and organisation from a young age and can be seen as hard to retain at times. The main purpose of the mapping exercise is to find out where and how or even if young Travellers are being engaged with in local and national areas, source the resources and supports that may be in place or needed and identify any initiatives contributing to meaningful participation and engagement.

Mapping exercise

The mapping exercise is a large piece of work been done on behalf of ITM youth, it's linked into our national Traveller youth participation & leadership strategy launched in October 2021 and mapping Traveller youth participation is one of the key actions within the strategy.

Mapping & Research of work with young Travellers

In order to strengthen participation practice and Traveller inclusion it is vital to identify projects working with young Travellers, identify areas where young Travellers do not have access to youth provision and why, identify good practice examples both of work with young Travellers and involvement of young Travellers in decision-making to find out what is working and why.
