Veterans Writing Project — Two-Day Writing Workshop, November 16th – 17th
WRITING WORKSHOP:

Veterans Writing Project (VWP) workshops focus on the elements of the craft of creative writing, so they are useful for writers regardless of their interest in fiction, non-fiction, essay, memoir, short stories, or poetry. Begging with the questions, “Why do we write? and "What’s different about writing the military experience?”, the workshops cover scene, setting, dialogue, narrative structure and plot, point of view, and more. All VWP instructors are veterans who are working writers and who hold graduate writing degrees. Workshops are open to any veteran, any service member, and any of their adult family members.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Jerri Bell retired from the Navy in 2008; her assignments included antisubmarine warfare in the Azores Islands, sea duty on USS Mount Whitney and HMS Sheffield, and attaché duty at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Russia. Her fiction has been published in a variety of journals and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize; her nonfiction has been published in journals and newspapers, and on blogs. She and former Marine Tracy Crow are the co-authors of It’s My Country Too: Women’s Military Stories from the American Revolution to Afghanistan, published by University of Nebraska Press/Potomac Books in 2017.
