NYCAAMH/Virtue Mental Education and Wellness Workshop Registration
There has been a traumatic increase in acts of racism targeting the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community since the start of the pandemic. As a result, conversations about mental health have also increased while the need for mental health supports have grown. Still, there is immense difficulty surrounding mental health due to stigma, lack of access, and other systemic barriers.

Virtue Mental and The New York Coalition for Asian Mental Health (NYCAAMH) are proud to work together to help bring more awareness about mental health to support the AAPI community through education and wellness workshops. We hope these workshops will encourage people to open up more about mental health and the traumatic impact of racism and to prioritize ways to support well-being overall.

Workshop Date and Time
Thursday, November 11th at 6pm CST/7pm EST
Each education and wellness workshop will be facilitated by NYCAAMH members who are licensed clinicians and also identify as members of the AAPI community. All workshops will include an educational discussion about racism, trauma, and mental health and a wellness exercise to give people a sense of the many strategies available to promote mental health and well-being during such challenging times. This workshop's facilitator(s) describes their wellness exercise as the following:
Chien-Chi and Yuna will be focusing on ways to implement love and kindness into one’s daily life, and will also be leading a meditation session.
About the Facilitator(s)
Chien-Chi Huang, MS:
Chien-Chi Huang is the founder of the Asian Breast Cancer Project and the Executive Director of Asian Women for Health. Ms. Huang's personal cancer journey led her to participate in national as well as local efforts on health equity and racial justice. Her remarkable passion for the community has changed the healthcare landscape for Asian women and created a pipeline of future leaders and peer health educators.

Yuna Youn, LCSW:
Yuna Youn (she/her/hers), LCSW, is a lifelong New Yorker, a daughter of Korean immigrants, and the Assistant Clinic Director at Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, an Article 31 clinic dedicated to linguistically and culturally sensitive care. Her work with people of color is greatly inspired by 5+ years of working with the incarcerated, which gives her a unique perspective on therapeutic interactions in the context of broader systemic issues. Her work is informed and inspired by the many ways individuals in oppressive systems and in her private practice demonstrate their resilience. Yuna received her BA from Columbia University and MSW from NYU.
