Language and Inclusion in Australia
Hey guys! I am a year 12 student from Caringbah High School and I am conducting a questionnaire for my Society and Culture Personal Interest project looking at language and inclusion in Australia.

It would be really appreciated if you were able to take a few minutes out of your day to answer these questions. If you feel uncomfortable answering any question feel free to leave it!

DISCLAIMER: The responses that are being gathered from this questionnaire will be used as primary data for my task. All responses are completely anonymous, confidential and will only be used for the purposes of my research. They cannot be traced back to you in any way.

In 2016, there were over 300 separately identified languages spoken in Australian homes. More than one-fifth (21 per cent) of Australians spoke a language other than English at home: Australian Bureau of Statistic, 2016.

A monolingual mindset is defined as “a mindset which sees everything in terms of monolingualism being the norm, multilingualism as outside the possible experience of ‘real Australians," (Michael Clyne, Australia's Language Potential.)
This mindset in Australia is defined as one that sees the English language as the only necessary language in Australia and in society in general.
