Description:
NUC Summer Camp is based on values of inclusivity and creating a space that is safe and welcoming to all. We intentionally encourage gender inclusive language, as well as promote healthy positive interactions among all staff and campers. During camp, we emphasize structured and unstructured play, outdoor time, and a variety of activities based on our weekly themes, all using a lens of faith and spirituality.
The position of HS Volunteer Counsellor includes:

Building a relationship with campers

Role modelling and supporting camper participation in all camp activities

Problem solving camper concerns with support of Lead Counsellors

Helping set up/run various activities throughout the day

Managing site, including putting supplies away, tidying and ensuring site safety

Over the last couple of years we have put several practices in place to ensure that we are minimizing the health risk of COVID19 for all of our staff, volunteers and campers, and that we are following the guidelines set by our local Public Health Unit and the Ministry of Health. At this time, we do not yet know what these requirements will be for 2022, but assure you they will be implemented fully and carefully. We ask that in return, our volunteers also follow guidelines as set out by Public Health, especially around health screening, mask wearing and vaccine recommendations.
HS Volunteers commit to at least 2 weeks of volunteering. Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
