Join one of these Scavenger Hunts looking for clues from our marine life along the shore on this activity that includes a sand/beach challenge art at the end.
All 3 events start at 2pm and last for up to 1.5 hours - and are particularly suitable for 4-11s. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. These events are run with the help of Thanet Coast Project volunteers, and rely on donations to keep going. Please register and show the total number attending (& number of 'adults & children' in your group). You will have to do another booking for a group of over 10 in total.
Donations welcome: suggested: £2 per person - adult & child present. Please help contribute to the 'not-for-profit' Thanet Coast Project - by making an online donation at https://www.thanetcoast.org.uk/making-a-donation/ or bring some spare change on the day.
Meet: ON THE BEACH - and please sign in to confirm your booking.
What to wear: You will need to wear suitable footwear and clothing for the beach, sand art and weather conditions on the day.
Equipment: The event instructions and tubs are provided by the Thanet Coast Project - although you are welcome to bring your own spades for the BeachArt.
Health and Safety: Please take care when scavenging on the beach, that there will be sharp objects (such as stone or shells) and may be contaminated objects (eg dog's mess) on the beach - so please do wash your hands as soon as possible after the event. There may be hazards to avoid (cliff falls; promenade edges; slippery surfaces or mounds of seaweed; or the tidal pool structure, and any vehicles in the vicinity). This is a public beach, so please be careful of other beach users on the day.
Toilets: Be prepared as there may be no public toilets open nearby at this time of year
Access: If not walking or cycling, then public transport involves a longer walk from the main railway stations, or from The Loop bus routes. Car Parking: Available on the surrounding cliff top roads (or lower promenade car park at Walpole). Accessibility: Unfortunately these events are held on the sand and involve access slopes, steps and sandy terrain on the beach. However Beach within Reach wheelchairs may be available with prior arrangements through Your Leisure: https://www.beachwithinreach.org.uk/
Data Protection: Information supplied is kept in accordance within the conditions of Thanet Council's Data Protection Policy (https://www.thanet.gov.uk/data-protection/) for Thanet Council for the Thanet Coast Project's events.
