What is Rivers of Hope?
Rivers of Hope is a grassroots organization dedicated to challenging Islamophobia using education and the arts. Since 2018, we have been offering educational workshops to schools and community organizations. You can learn more about our work at www.riversofhopeproject.com.
Who is eligible to be a Workshop Facilitator?
Applicants must be between 18-25 years old and live in the Greater Toronto Area or in Hamilton. We prioritize applicants who have lived experience with racism and/or Islamophobia.
What are the benefits & responsibilities of being a Workshop Facilitator?
If you are selected to be a workshop facilitator, you will receive training in how to facilitate Rivers of Hope's workshop. You will also receive ongoing mentorship and learning opportunities from Rivers of Hope throughout the year. Each facilitator will facilitate two workshops per school year alongside a co-facilitator, and will be paid $200 per workshop.
How is Rivers of Hope responding to COVID-19 & social distancing?
During social distancing, all Rivers of Hope workshops will be facilitated ONLINE. If you are selected to be a facilitator with us, you will be trained in online facilitation. Our workshops will only be facilitated in person when social distancing is over and it has been determined to be safe. We will be extremely cautious. As a facilitator with Rivers of Hope, you will NEVER have to facilitate an in-person workshop if you are not comfortable doing so.
