D/deaf Screening Series Survey
Matchbox Cineclub is a cult film exhibitor based in Glasgow (www.matchboxcineclub.com). In 2019/20, we have some funding to subtitle and screen four titles that are otherwise inaccessible to D/deaf audiences. We would like to ask your advice in planning and delivering this series.

About us / this project
Matchbox Cineclub typically screen films that are out of circulation or hard to access otherwise. We also produce festivals (Cage-a-rama, KeanuCon and Weird Weekend). In tandem with this, we are professional subtitlers, with 10 years' experience subtitling for access, primarily in broadcast television. Beside this proposed screening series, we are committed to captioning all our upcoming screenings and festival programmes.

NB While our focus is normally on cult or genre films, there are no limitations on which titles may be nominated or selected for this series, except that we do need to focus on films which do not already have subtitles, or do not have captions/SDH subtitles.

Screenings will hinge on securing the appropriate licence to show each title (though we do work very hard to locate these, if they are not easily sourced).

What types of films would you like to see?

We are usually based at Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow - would you have objections to screenings held there?
