- Your monthly income should be
2.5x the
monthly rent amount.
For example, if the
rent is $800/month your
income from all sources (employment, savings, housing voucher, etc)
should be $2000/month. ($800 x 2.5 = $2000/month.)

Debt considerations: for any
debt amount
above $2,500 per household, Rooted & Rising will
require documentation regarding debt service agreements, repayment plans and/or settlement agreements. Any monthly repayment amount will be factored into net monthly income calculations.
This is to make sure that you can cover the rent along with all the other necessary expenses such as food and utilities.
Income sources can include: employment (W2, 1099), social security, state SSI, child support, housing voucher, food share, substantial savings (i.e. enough savings to cover a month or more of the rent), and kinship.
Eviction History:
- No evictions for the last 3 years.
- You must be able to provide 3 years of rental history.
Criminal History:
- No felony or criminal convictions within the past 3-years
- Serious incidents and convictions beyond the 3-year period will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Other Grounds for Ineligibility
- False statements (lying) or misrepresentations.
- Incomplete prescreening form (this document) or otherwise incomplete documentation (rental history, income information, benefit information.)
Important Note: If you are providing a landlord, employment, or otherwise reference, please make sure the person listed is aware that someone will be contacting them on your behalf. References who do not respond will result in your documentation being marked incomplete.
