We plan on offering a Summer Basketball League at Savannah Christian Academy during the months of June and July. The preferred process would be for students to attend our Basketball Camp from June 7-11 and then participate in our summer basketball league throughout the remainder of the summer. We will work on skills during the week-long camp and then put these skills into practice during the summer basketball league. We plan to only keep 16 players for each age bracket (3rd/4th girls, 3rd/4th boys, 5th/6th girls, 5th/6th boys, 7th/8th girls, and 7th/8th boys).

The games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and/or Thursdays throughout the months of June and July. We will not have any summer league games the week of June 21-25. The games will be played during the day between the hours of 9 am through 3 pm. The most likely scenario would be for games to be scheduled at 9 am, 10 am, 1 pm, and 2 pm on these days.

Games will be played for six weeks and will conclude the last week of July. Each game will be 45-60 minutes. On most game days, we will have several different age groups playing. Age groups would only play one or two games per day. The initial plans are for only one game per day for each age group with each age group playing twice per week.

The goal of the summer basketball league is to develop basketball skills for players in the 3rd grade through the 8th grade. The format will be similar to what we use with our Developmental League at SCA. Players will be on different teams throughout the season. They will rotate so they are playing with different teammates. The league will managed by SCA basketball coach Brian Reid. We may use former SCA players to coach and officiate during the season.

We will also have a spiritual component to the summer basketball league. Between games, we will have a short devotional time with players from each team. For example, the teams from the previous game and the upcoming game will meet together for a short devotional. This aspect of the league would be a requirement for players to attend. For instance, the teams playing at 10 and 11 would meet together between those scheduled times around 10:50 for the devotion.

We ask that you only sign up if you are committed to playing throughout the summer. While we understand that summer trips are planned, players need to be committed to being at games as much as possible. We are limiting the number of players per age group to hopefully maximize playing time as much as possible. When players know they will miss certain games, we will have a format to notify Coach Reid so we can make proper arrangements for games.

Players will receive a blank reversible jersey to wear for games.
