Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many people will be accepted into the training?
A: TCRP will be accepting 15 people into this training session.

Q: How can I pay the $725 fee for the training?
A: TCRP is able to accept cashier's checks, money orders, or cash. We are also able to send an invoice if necessary. We are unable to accept credit/debit cards or personal checks.

Q: What do I do if I'm unable to afford the fee?
A: TCRP offers this training in a limited capacity free of charge to Black & Indigenous People of Color who do not already work for a recovery organization, have at least one year of recovery and complete the application and interview process
*There are a limited number of available slots for free of charge entry into the training - please email admin@tcrpinc.org for information

Q: How do you decide who gets into the training?
A: We look at every candidate on a holistic level. We do not prioritize people who have more "time" in recovery, or more experience in the field. We look for people that turn in all their documents and fees promptly, stay in consistent communication with program staff, show interest in volunteering or participating in TCRP's activities, and most importantly, would benefit the most from receiving the training.

Q: How do I hear about upcoming trainings?
A: We will always mention upcoming training sessions on our monthly newsletter first, as well as our facebook page.

Q: I signed up for a group interview, and found out after I submitted the application that I won't be able to make it. Will I be disqualified from attending?
A: If you know ahead of time that you won't be able to make it, call us and let us know ASAP. We can reschedule your interview, as long as there is another one coming up that you can attend.

Q: I have an appointment the week of training. Will I still be able to attend the training?
A: We ask that people move any priorities the week of the training. If you have an appointment that you absolutely cannot miss, we ask that you return immediately after. The MN Certification Board asks that all training participants get at least 46 hours of training time, and you may be asked to make up a day if you miss too much time in a session.

Q: How do I get my state certification after attending the week of training?
A: There is an application that needs to be filled out on the Minnesota Certification Board website. They will need a copy of your diploma from our training, a $225 fee for testing with them, and a copy of your GED/HS diploma/college transcripts (any of them will work). TCRP staff can help you fill out this application after completing our training.

Q: I don't have a copy of GED/High School Diploma/College transcripts. What do I do in this situation?
A: We have staff members that can help you find your documents by appointment. We ask that you start trying to find these documents after applying, and if you still need help, schedule an appointment during lunch the week of the training.
