EPP Fall 2025 Application
The Education Preparedness Program (EPP) provides pathways to higher education for people directly impacted by incarceration. EPP courses operate in a blended course model meaning that degree-seeking undergraduates and graduate students take courses inside prisons and jails alongside students who are currently incarcerated. EPP also offers courses on Marquette's campus that blend degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students with students who are formerly incarcerated.

What EPP is not:
  • EPP is not an a service opportunity, charity, or to “help” those who are incarcerated in the usual sense of volunteerism or charity
  • EPP is not an opportunity to do human subject research on those who are on the inside
Application Closes: April 20, 2025

PLEASE NOTE:
For courses held inside correctional facilities, there are requirements that must be completed before the start of the Spring semester. Failure to complete the necessary requirements (i.e. paperwork, background check forms, etc) before program deadlines will result a removal from the course.

“Cura personalis [is the] educational goal of caring for the “whole person.” Every college worth its salt cares for the intellect, and perhaps the body, but Jesuit institutions are committed to the care of the whole person—which includes the soul.” - Rev. James Martin, S.J. In other words, you are a unique person with special skills, talents, and gifts and you are called to care for others across all identities and life situations. Reflect on the idea of cura personalis. How do you see yourself contributing to the principle of cura personalis as a person and as a Marquette student? How might you have fostered the principle of cura personalis in your life already or how do you hope to cultivate it in the future? (215 word minimum)
