The Basement Teen Center is excited to offer PREP [Personal Responsibility Education Program], an evidence-based curriculum that builds skills to prevent STI and HIV transmission and unintended pregnancy. Information alone won’t prevent teens from engaging in high-risk behaviors, but evidence shows that having accurate information about the consequences of unprotected sex helps teens make better choices, especially when parents/guardians reinforce the program’s information with clearly communicated expectations.

This program is designed to engage teens in conversations that encourage them to take charge of their physical, emotional, and sexual health. Anyone who successfully completes the course (at least 6 out of the 8 classes) will be rewarded with a $100 gift card! All teens 13-18 are welcome to participate, regardless of any attendance at the Basement Teen Center.

PREP will begin Tuesday April 26th. Classes will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (April 26th, 27th, and 28th, and May 3rd, 4th, 5th, 10th and 11th.) The 8 sessions will be held on Zoom, and we are happy to accommodate anyone who wants to attend in person. Virtual students will need a computer with internet access, and a private space where they can attend with confidentiality, privacy, and no distractions.
