"CHESS IS LIFE" - Bobby Fischer
The most popular game in the world, played by billions and celebrated for its magnificence the past 1400 years.

Not only will chess develop strategic thinking, enhance lateral and logical thinking and extend creative thinking, it is a game that builds resilience, concentration and problem solving skills.

Coordinating this unique chess adventure are Mr Edward (Ted) Carter and Mr Brock McIntyre. Ted is a qualified teacher and a chess coach/coordinator. Brock is a chess coach and very accomplished chess player. Unfortunately, not all schools are able to offer a chess programmer their students. Some schools do offer chess but are not able to provide the coaching required for students to advance their playing abilities.  Together, Ted and Brock will deliver quality chess coaching and opportunities for participants to practise and compete in order to improve.

Students participating in Chess Kingdom do need a basic understanding of how the pieces move and should be able to participate for extended periods of time without disturbing their opponents. If you have a son or daughter who is needing to learn the fundamentals, they are most welcome to attend the free Wednesday after-school chess and LEGO program at the Toowoomba City Library, directed by Ted. For more info, go to http://carterschess.com.au/upcomingevents/

In addition to the launch of Chess Kingdom, Ted and Brock are engaged in community events where chess is utilised as a means of making connections, teaching life skills and promoting healthy choices. Subscribe to http://carterschess.com.au/upcomingevents/ to be informed of upcoming events.

The fees for Chess Kingdom are $10 per week, per student, for the first session (4:00-5:30pm). The second session, which is open to all family members, is just $5 per participant and is dedicated to competitive play from 6:00pm-7:00pm.
